The title of this blog is “Accidental Autism” because:
- My daughters autism came by “accident”. I did not cause this by being a refrigerator mother, by not breast feeding long enough, or by willfully exposing her to toxic chemicals, alcohol, or drugs.
- Many accidents occur whenever she is around; especially in the pickle aisle at the grocery store. (Why do they have to place pickles all over the store where they do not belong?)
- She still occasionally has accidents of the toileting variety, especially when anxious and stressed or sick.
- Perhaps someone will accidentally find a cause and a cure for her form of autism when they are least expecting it.
Your blog speaks with eloquence, and not just to those experiencing autism first hand. Thank you.
I hope that others benefit from your experience. You have always been a hero of a mother. I hold you, Sam and Lily close in my heart. Keep up the good work !
Thanks for following my blog. I followed yours back. I just had an emotional meeting declaring my final withdrawing from the University! Blahhh. So wonderful to see others advocating and making a difference (meaning you). Look forward to looking through your posts. ~ Sam 🙂
Thank you for visiting and I look forward to your posts as well.
Thanks for visiting Life Love and Lyricality!! I love what I see here on your blog…you’ll have seen that my daughter has Rett Syndrome so the world of disability is a familiar one. Keep up the great work!
